Do You Desire More Balance In Your Life?
Do you desire balance in your life?
Are you frustrated with distractions?
Would you like to tame your to do list?
I know! Me too!
As a working mom, I desire all of this.
This is why I make it a practice to not only develop my goals but to reflect in my goal journal weekly.
Goal development and goal journaling is like peanut butter and jelly- like sugar and cinnamon- (okay- no food)- Oh! Like Sonny and Cher!
If you are wanting balance, less distractions, and a to-do list that are not overwhelming, you have to develop goals and reflect on them in a goal journal.
Let me share with you…
Harvard Business School’s research has shown that reflection can build confidence to move goals forward, articulate key learning, create higher rates of achievement, and increase productivity.
Four Benefits of Goal Reflection:
1- Reflecting on your goals motivates you to move forward.
Momentum is created when you celebrate your wins.
Working hard to achieve goals can be exhausting and at times defeating. This is why we tend to get stuck. You get caught up in the headspace of negativity and challenges, which results in giving up.
When you intentionally focus on the small or big achievements each week, you give your mind a positive framework to continue to move forward.
2- You become more effective by applying what you are learning through reflection.
Books, courses, blogs, podcasts, and e-books are all great learning tools. However, the most powerful learning can come from your own experiences.
Evaluating your failures, reviewing what is working, and assessing your experiences can be the best learning tool for your life.
3- When you are consistently focusing on your goals, you achieve more.
People who write and review goals on an on-going basis are more likely to have success than those who do not.
Goals are not to be written in stone on a tablet for the year and not reviewed. In fact, goals should be fluid.
If you take time to evaluate your goals, you decide what you may need to change, and what you need to focus on next for achievement.
4- You become more productive when you are reviewing your focus and habits for effectiveness.
Your productivity and effectiveness rises and falls with habits.
It is important to think about the results you want to achieve through goals. Then determine what habit you can establish daily, weekly, or monthly to move that goal forward.
By evaluating your habits, you are determining if you are effectively moving your goals forward with your habits. Do they need upgraded? Do they need changed?
Setting goals with on-going journal reflection allows you to intentionally focus on your life. The result is less distractions, more balance, and high achievement. And we all want a little more of that!
